The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is the nation's first hospital devoted exclusively to the care of children. Since their start in 1855, CHOP has been the birthplace for many dramatic firsts in pediatric medicine. The Hospital has fostered medical discoveries and innovations that have improved pediatric healthcare and saved countless children’s lives. Today, families facing complex conditions come to CHOP from all over the world, and their care and innovation has repeatedly earned them a spot on the U.S. News & World Report's Honor Roll of the nation's best children's hospitals.

Shriner's Hospitals for Children has a mission to:
Provide the highest quality care to children with neuromusculoskeletal conditions, burn injuries and other special healthcare needs within a compassionate, family-centered and collaborative care environment.
Provide for the education of physicians and other healthcare professionals.
Conduct research to discover new knowledge that improves the quality of care and quality of life of children and families.
This mission is carried out without regard to race, color, creed, sex or sect, disability, national origin or ability of a patient or family to pay.

The "Eagle Nebula"

Was immortalized in 1995 when imaged several times by the Hubble Space Telescope. The resulting iconic photograph - titled the "Pillars of Creation" - showed three magnificent columns of interstellar gas and dust displayed in sensational detail.

Please see "My Story" Page for more information

This Audio Book was designed to enhance your binocular or telescope viewing sessions.

Just load the files into your favorite audio device    (phone, tablet, MP3 player, etc.) and put on your favorite headphones. Then choose the Messier Object of your choice and be prepared to be fully immersed into your views.

Instead of reading the history and facts about a Messier Object, now you can listen to them; all while never taking your eyes from the view.

Listen to the narrator as he gives you a wealth of interesting facts & history on your object. You will discover that your view will take on a more interesting aspect as he points out the finer details that you may not be aware of. You may now be able to see these details as you listen to the description against the soft spatial background music.

For an example... you are viewing Messier #13,

The Great Hercules Cluster.

You may have seen it before, but now witness it while listening to the narrator explain:

“Many of the outer stars seem to be arranged in long arcs weaving their way across the cluster face and the distribution of the bright stars is not even across the surface. Also, there are three dark dust lanes that form a Y shape towards the southeast of the core. This is known as the "propeller".

Or you want to see Messier 20,

The Trifid Nebula.

Listen as you here the narrator explain not only how to locate it but how this fascinating object evolved and how you should be seeing it depending on your size scope.

“This remarkable object not only contains an emission and reflection nebula but also a dark nebula and an embedded open star cluster.”

Whether you are new to astronomy or a seasoned amateur, this audio experience will certainly add a new perspective to your session.

And for those that feel they have “seen it all…”, revisit some of your favorites while listening to the audio. It will add new life into your old views.
